Fault Spotlight – 2019 Hitachi ZX225US-3 Engine Sudden Shutdown
Equipment: Hitachi ZX225US-3 (SN: 125001) with Isuzu 4HK1 engine, 6 800 h
Symptom: Machine shut down while trenching, no restart, no fault code on monitor.
Diagnosis: Fuel hand-primer bulb collapsed; no fuel suction from tank. Removed feed hose – internal liner of aftermarket hose delaminated, acting as a one-way valve. Also found primary fuel filter seal twisted, drawing air.
Solution: Replaced with SWAFLY OEM-grade fuel hose (part no. 8-9801-1631-0) and genuine filter element 1-8781-0308-0. Primed system, engine fired instantly. Total downtime: 45 min. Cost: 48 USD parts + labour.
ZX225US-3 CAB Knowledge – What to Check Before Ordering
1. Serial break: Machines before S/N 110501 use round-door handle; later units use flush paddle. Mention S/N when ordering 4679733.
2. Glass tint: Standard green-tint laminated; for high-heat sites request grey-tint part suffix -GT.
3. Seat belt: ROPS cab requires 3-point belt ISO 6683; verify mounting points if retrofitting older ZX225US-3 without ROPS.
4. Wiper motor: 24 V 50 W – same as ZX240-3; spare wiper motor part no. 425-9325 can be added to order.
5. Delivery: Cab ships on 110 cm x 90 cm pallet, 280 kg – suitable for LCL sea freight or Express (DHL Freight) to reduce import tax.
